New Police FC midfielder Tony Mawejje has been named the forces captain for the 2020/21 season.
Mawejje, who brings with him a lot of experience, replaces Joseph Ssentume as the skipper.
“He looks a definite leader in that group, and he (Mawejje) will wear the captain’s armband,” a source at Police is quoted by Football256.
“The players have warmed to him since he came and it is an easy choice for the coach who has an even better understanding of what he (Mawejje) brings to the squad.
Police coach Abdallah Mubiru has previously said Mawejje is “more than just experience to the squad.”
Ssentume is now the assistant to Mawejje, one of Uganda’s best ever midfielders.
Mawejje returned to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) after 14 years.
He signed a two-year contract with his former side, Police FC, in June.
