Mbarara City 3-0 Nyamityobora
Mbarara City are a team in-form and are making headlines in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) for all the right reasons.
Paul Mucureezi, an acquisition from KCCA, has been outstanding for the Ankole Lions but the man who has been pulling all the strings is coach Livingstone Mbabazi.
The 3-0 thrashing of Nyamityobora in the Western derby on Friday did not only increase Mbarara’s stranglehold of third place in the league table, it has the club’s fans talking about the title.
But Mbabazi refuses to be drawn into title talk.
“Of course I am happy with the team but you cannot talk about the title now” said Mbabazi.
The victory at Kakyeka Stadium saw Mbarara come to within five points of KCCA, who top the table on 40.
Makueth Wol opened the scoring for Mbarara with a contestable goal in the second minute after Paul Mucureezi picked the ball beyond the white line.
Mucureezi then scored his sixth of the season in the 25th minute tapping in from inside the box for Mbarara’s second.
Jude Ssemugabi added the icing on the cake by scoring his second of the season and Mbarara’s third late on.
