Mbarara City 3-1 Express
Mbarara City won their first game of the 2018/19 season, dispatching Express 3-1 at Kavumba Recreation Centre on Sunday.
Karim Ndugwa, Ivan Eyam and Hillary Mukundane netted for the Western Uganda side while Mubarak Nsubuga got the Red Eagles consolation.
Having started the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) season with a 1-0 defeat to newcomers Ndejje University in the week, the Ankole Lions started this one in high gear.
New signing Ndugwa put them ahead as early as the 14th minute before Nsubuga restored matters for Express four minutes later.
But Eyam restored the lead six minutes to half time before Mukundane put the game beyond reach for the visitors on 53 minutes to hand coach Livingstone Mbabazi and Mbarara their win in two matches.
For Express, this was their first defeat in two matches, the Red Eagles league opener having ended in a home goalless draw with URA.
Victory moves Mbarara to sixth place with three points while defeat for coach Kefa Kisala’s Express has them in 13th in a 16-team league.
