Mbarara City 2-1 Arua Hill SC

Jude Ssemugabi netted the winner as Mbarara City returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over new boys Arua Hill at Kakyeka Stadium on Friday.

Henry Kitegenyi got Mbarara’s first goal in the initial period of the game while Alfred Leku scored the visitors consolation late on.

Mbarara’s Bebe Swalik Ssegujja was awarded the Pilsner Man of the Match accolade for his industrious display to hold off Arua.

Kitegenyi turned on the floodlights for the hosts inside seven minutes at a stadium in which they opened their campaign with a 3-1 victory over Soltilo Bright Stars.

Ssemugabi made ut 2-0 on 47 minutes as the Ankole Lions threatened to run away with it.

The visitors did pull one back on 73 minutes through Leku but Mbarara held on to render the goal only a consolation.

Mbarara’s second victory in three matches sends them to third place on six points, in the interim.

Arua Hill, whose only victory remains the big 2-0 opening day win over defending champions, Express, are fifth on four points.
