Mbarara City 8-2 Tooro United
Express 0-0 UPDF
There was really not much expected in these two matches as Express did not have much to play for against the UPDF and that Mbarara City and Tooro United were already relegated.
Indeed, at Wankulukuku, out-gone champions, Express, could only draw goalless with the UPDF.
That means that sixth-placed Express, on 46 points, can only finish one place above if they beat Arua Hill by at least four unanswered goals on the final day next Saturday.
The UPDF are safe in seventh on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table with 37 points with a game to play.
But it is Mbarara City that served their home crowd a cocktail of goals as the Ankole Lions routed fellow relegated side Tooro United 8-2.
Mbarara striker and Pilsner Man of the Match Jude Ssemugabi helped himself to four goals coming on 5, 25, 44 and 76 minutes.
Seiri Arigumaho was also not to be left out of the party, the player grabbing his own hat-trick on 13, 55 and 83 minutes.
By the time Henry Kitegenyi made it eight two minutes from full time, Tooro – who got their two consolation goals from Luis Bhaka and Ronald Otti in between Mbarara’s barrage -, could not wait to board back home.
Mbarara and Tooro occupy the bottom two places on 25 and 10 points respectively.
