Police coach Abdallah Mubiru disagrees with people who think his side can be in the title race this season.
The former league champions made a statement of intent with a 2-1 win over one of the title favourites, Vipers despite going a goal down and when asked whether the win has a significance on the title chances, Mubiru thinks otherwise.
“Our target is clear and remains clear,” he started. “We target to be competitive. Whatever teams we play against, we try to compete against the opponents we are playing,” he added.
We will keep on competing until the end of the league. We are not thinking about winning the league at the moment but winning games which we can.
The Cops survived on the last day of the season last campaign and the former Proline, Vipers SC and KCCA coach says the task now is to assemble a good side.
I am not undermining my team but everyone knows that a few months ago, we were struggling to remain in the league.
We have assembled almost a new team so you can’t think of winning a league and that’s a big statement for us at the moment but winning a game is what we can so we are prepared to win every game that we play.
Police dislodged Vipers from the league summit despite all teams being tied on 10 points as the Cops have a better goal difference.
