Mbarara City 2-1 SC Villa

Paul Mucureezi scored the winner as Mbarara City overpowered a struggling SC Villa 2-1 at Kavumba on Saturday.

Mbarara skipper Asuman Alishe scored the other goal while Bashir Mutanda’s strike for Villa could only count for a consolation in the end.

Alishe broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time but Mutanda levelled for Villa on 63 minutes.

However, home boy Mucureezi had other ideas, ensuring of all three points for Mbarara 15 minutes from time.

Record Ugandan champions at 16 titles, Villa, have now not won a game in all their opening six matches and languish second from bottom on three points.

Mbarara moved one up to seventh on 10 points following their third win.

Mucureezi was celebrating his first goal for the Ankole Lions since his move from KCCA during the off-season.
