Midfielder Albert Mugisa is expected to formally complete his move to Sports Club Villa from Police FC.
Reports indicate that the player is leaving Police because the club failed to follow through financially on his contract.
“I thank Police F.C for the time accorded to me and better still, the exposure,” said Mugisa, who told local media that he had thoroughly thought through his decision following “challenging conditions” at Police.
Police endured a spell of financial troubles last season, including going several months without payments to both players and coaching staff.
Mugisa joined Police at the start of the 2017/18 season from Ndejje University, who are now in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) having secured promotion.
The midfielder’s eye-catching passing and technical ability on the ball attracted the eyes of Uganda Cranes coach Sebastien Desabre, who summoned him for the regional tours.
The deal to Villa is expected to be completed this week. Mugisa will join the long list of new players at Villa including former Vipers goalkeeper Ismail Watenga, Pius Wangi, Bashir Mutanda and Ashraf Mandela among others.
