Wakiso Giants 1-1 Vipers SC

StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) reigning champions, Vipers SC, had hoped to build onto their 3-0 victory over Maroons last week, on Tuesday.

Instead, the Venoms were made to sweat for a point at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium as they needed a second half goal from defender Hillary Mukundane to avoid defeat.

The 1-1 draw between the two sees Vipers tiptoe two places further up the 15-team log to 10th on five points from four matches.

Wakiso Giants, who also came into this on the back of a 2-1 victory over URA, move one place up to third on 11 points from six games.

The Purple Sharks are just three points behind leaders BUL, who lost 1-0 to Express on the same day.

BUL have played a game more than Wakiso Giants and second-placed Villa, who have 13 points.

For Vipers, it was just a continuation of their indifferent start to the season having picked just four points from their opening three matches.

In Wakiso, the hosts were the better team in the opening stages and made it count when Ibrahim ‘Baba’ Kasule gave them a 10th minute lead.

Kasule glanced home a header off an Alex Komakech cross.

But the hosts could not withhold Vipers intense pressure after the break, finally succumbing to Mukundane forcing home the equalizer on 59 minutes.
