KCCA vs Onduparaka
Players are raring to go, and coaches relishing the moment as KCCA welcome Onduparaka to Star Times Stadium, Lugogo on Tuesday.
The two face off in one of four Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) matches lined up on the day with Onduparara topping the table with five others on four points.
KCCA lie 10th with one point, and manager Mike Mutebi says they must get out of the blocks urgently and that must start against Onduparaka.
“This is actually the best time to play them,” Mutebi told upl.co.ug, “Because of the situation we are in, and because they are topping the table. They also haven’t conceded.”
Do two matches without victory amount to a crisis at KCCA, then? Mutebi does not think so. “It is only the third game of the season and we must win it.
“We are concerned that we have lost four points but we are going to remedy the situation. I believe the lads will step up.”
On the other hand, Onduparaka head of technical matters Leo Adraa is bullish. “We are not afraid of anybody and we shall go to KCCA in that mode,” he said.
“The result against Maroons was a good starting point because last season we were not so good away from home.”
Talking of away form, the Caterpillars will need no reminder of what befell them on their last visit to Lugogo.
Then, in February, youngster Allan Okello netted a hat-trick on his debut in KCCA’s 7-0 routing of Onduparaka, a position they will hope to avoid this time round.
KCCA captain Denis Okot appreciates that Onduparaka arrive the livelier team but insists that the onus is on the champions to get the season underway in earnest.
“We need it more than them,” said Okot, “They won at Maroons, and they will come here with that confidence but as far as we are concerned, we must win that game.”
