KCCA manager Mike Mutebi believes they will overcome Ethiopian giants St George if they show the mettle displayed in the gritty 1-0 victory over Madagascar’s CNaPS Sport.

They (St George) are a team that will make our players think,” said Mutebi.

“And they have more experience than us but that won’t deter the way we want to play.

“We play like that we shall eliminate them.”

Mutebi is a strong advocate of free, flowing football but Wednesday’s victory, thanks to Paul Mucureezi’s solitary goal, was hardly borne of that.

And against St George, the perennial Champions League campaigners, Mutebi and his team come up a very experienced side that also boasts of Ugandan goalkeeper Robert Odongkara.

He will come up against KCCA strikers Muhammad Shaban, Derrick Nsibambi and Patrick Kaddu among others.

Mutebi admitted the need to sharpen his attack force ahead of the Addis Ababa trip.

“Those are the things (improving the scoring departure) we as coaches should work on.

“But improving on the movement around the box area comes with time.”

St George will host the first leg of the first round away in Addis Ababa between 5th and 6th May 2018.
