Mutebi proud of his boys in defeat

Caf Champions League

Group A Tuesday results

Esperance 3-2 KCCA

Ah Ahly 3-0 Township Rollers

KCCA manager Mike Mutebi was impressed by his boys application despite surrendering a 2-0 lead to lose by a goal to Tunisia’s Esperance in the Caf Champions League on Tuesday night.

Jackson Nunda and a Khalil Chemmam own goal had KCCA 2-0 up inside the first quarter of the hour as the visitors threatened to run away with it.

But Anice Badri and Saad Bguir scored in quick succession for the hosts to level the scores in the 33rd minute.

Sustained second half pressure by Esperance saw them grab the winner through Belel Magri eight minutes from time.

“I think they were more effective with their chances and overall they deserved to win. They were slightly better than us,” said KCCA coach Mutebi.

“But we shall do our best to use the home advantage and win.

“Overall I’ve been impressed by the performance of the players.”

Esperance lead Group A on seven points, followed by Egyptian giants Al Ahly, who beat Botswana’s Township Rollers 3- 0, on four.

Township and Uganda Premier League (UPL) KCCA are on three apiece.
