Mutebi wary of stubborn Bright Stars as league gets underway

The StarTimes Uganda Premier League returns after eight months of no action with several games lined up on match day one.

But the opening game will see KCCA visit Soltilo Bright Stars at Kavumba Recreation on Thursday.

The hosts were unbeaten against the thirteen time champions last season drawing 1-1 at Lugogo before winning 2-1 at home.

KCCA manager Mike Mutebi whose side have been one of the busiest in the market is already wary of the threat the opponents pose but believes his side will win.

“Bright Stars has always given us problems and I know they will again give us headache on Thursday but this time around we believe that we have enough in our armoury to negotiate and try to win that match,” he noted.

The Kasasiro will be without injured Moses Aliro, Gift Ali and John Revita for the game but Mutebi could hand debuts to Denis Iguma, Juma Balinya, Brian Aheebwa and Bright Anukani among his new signings.

Baker Mbowa will be in charge of his first official game at Bright Stars after replacing Paul Kiwanuka who joined Fred Kajoba at Vipers.

Elsewhere, Police will look to extend their winning streak against Wakiso Giants on Friday in a televised encounter at Lugogo, URA visit Mbarara City in Kakyeeka while sixteen time champions SC Villa play away to Bul FC.

On Saturday, Express visit Onduparaka in Arua, Kyetume host Kitara at Fufa Technical Centre Njeru while UPDF will be at home to Busoga United.
