Mutyaba, Ssimbwa bless Kyeyune Merreikh move

Cranes midfielder Saidi Kyeyune has got blessings from the best as former El Merreikh star Mike Mutyaba and his erstwhile coach at URA bid him farewell.

Kyeyune was confirmed as an El Merreikh player by the Sudanese giants at the weekend after his strong individual show at Chan finals, in which he scored two beauties against Togo and Morocco.

Mutyaba, who featured for the Sudanese giants, was contacted on the prospects of his country mate ahead of Kyeyune’s move.

“I was contacted by El Merreikh about Kyeyune’s detailed ability and I told them he is a midfield gold mine,” the former Uganda Cranes, Vipers, Express, KCCA and El Merrick attacking forward told Daily Monitor.

Mutyaba further advised Kyeyune to prioritize his attacking than defending.

“Merreikh don’t demand much; just play with flair as an attacking midfielder and score a few goals,” said Mutyaba.

“This is what I believe Kyeyune does for a living.”

Mutyaba revealed that the club offers a chauffeur, ticket for the wife, pleasant accommodation and all for the player.

Merreikh officials are expected in the country anytime now to seal off the deal with URA, which some quarters say is a bumper one for the club and player.

Kyeyune’s coach at StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) side URA, Ssimbwa, is both happy and sad.

“He defied all odds to make it and will reap big before age catches up with him,” said Ssimbwa.

“I will miss him but he knows I’m the happiest with his move.”
