NEC 2-0 URA
Joseph Dhata and Cromwell Rwothomio scored the goals as NEC beat URA 2-0 under the MTN Omondi Stadium floodlights on Wednesday.
NEC’s sixth win in 10 StarTimes Uganda Premier League matches lifted them one place up to fourth on 19 points, six off the top.
This was URA’s third defeat in 10 matches, and keeps the Tax Collectors in eighth place on 13 points.
The match had a brief power outage but resumed later for the league debutants to seal their victory.
NEC’s win was especially sweet because it was coming against a team – URA – that is the talk of town for their exciting brand of football since David Obua joined as head coach last month.
That pass-and-move football has been on show in the last three-four games, although only the 2-1 win over Express last week has so far earned URA and Obua maximum points.
The former Uganda Cranes superstar insists he will keep playing the same way and soon results will follow.
Here at Lugogo, it is Dhata’s 41st minute goal and a sucker punch from Rwothomio 10 minutes into the second half that took URA back to the drawing board.
The league continues on Thursday, with Gaddafi hosting UPDF and defending champions, Vipers SC, welcoming Kitara to Kitende.
