Nothing to separate the security forces

Thursday result

Police 2-2 UPDF

The UPDF fired two quick bullets at Police but the Cops fought back to rescue a point as the battle of security forces failed to produce a winner at Lugogo on Thursday.

Second half goals from Juma Balinya and Yusuf Ssozi ensured that Abdallah Mubiru’s men rescued a home point in this StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) encounter.

Andrew Kawooya and Ivan Ahimbisibwe had given the visitors a 2-0 lead before half time and they looked likely to run away with it.

The result moved Police to 17 points although the Cops remained 11th on the 16-team table after 17 games.

It was particularly disappointing for the UPDF given the half time advantage they had given themselves.

Coach Brian Ssenyondo’s men move to 21 points but remain ninth on the table.

Kawooya put UPDF ahead in the 10th minute, converting a direct free kick past goalkeeper Abdul Kimera.

Ahimbisibwe doubled his side’s advantage moments later, scoring from the spot after James Begisa was fouled in the penalty box by Emmanuel Mugume.

Police coach, Mubiru, introduced midfielder Johnson Odongo and forward Marvin Oshaba to try reignite his attack after the half time break.

The pressure soon bore fruit, Balinya pulling one back for Police in the 57th minute via a direct free kick.

From then on Police kept asking the questions.

They got their final answer in the 70th minute when Ssozi connected home substitute Odongo’s ball to level matters for a point.
