Kirinya-Jinja 0-1 KCCA

Derrick Nsibambi was the hero as KCCA left it late to claim all three points from Bugembe Stadium on Friday.

The striker grabbed the all-important goal six minutes from time to ensure the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) reigning champions edged Kirinya-Jinja 1-0 to remain in fine frame to defend their title.

Victory not only moved the champions to within four points of leaders SC Villa, who have played two games more, it showed character of a team capable of picking points where several victims have been claimed.

Only one team, Soana, have previously secured all three points at Bugembe Stadium before this Derrick Nsibambi header changed the script.

“They gave us a big challenge and I am happy with the win,” said a relieved Mike Mutebi, the KCCA manager.

The win moved KCCA to 39 points, five ahead of Kirinya-Jinja, who are fourth on the 16-team league table.
