AUPL Saturday result
Maroons 0-2 Onduparaka (Caesar Okhuti, 54’ 63’)
Caesar Okhuti scored twice as Onduparaka beat Maroons 2-0 at Luzira on Saturday to register their first Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) victory of the season.
Victory moves the West Nile side to second on the log with four points, just behind Police on goal difference.
Asaph Mwebaze’s Maroons, who were impressive in their opening day goalless draw at KCCA, struggled to match Onduparaka and were duly punished for their defensive profligacy. The Prisons side drop bottom of the 16-team log.
Both sides had telling confrontations, with Onduparaka goalkeeper Nicholas Sebwato severally stopping Maroons striker William Wadri, and the hosts’ shot-stopper Emmanuel Akol thwarting Okhuti and Gadafi Gadinho.
The visitors soon won the tug-of-war after recess, Okhuti shielding off two Maroons defenders to squeeze the ball in past a rather impressive Akol on 54 minutes.
Onduparaka, who drew goalless their opening match with Proline, doubled their advantage on 63 minutes after Allan Anguyo carelessly ceded possession for Okhuti to steal behind enemy lines and beating hapless Akol in goal.
