Nicholas Sebwato proved Onduparaka’s match winner when he scored the game’s only goal for a 1-0 victory over 10-man Kirinya-Jinja in Arua on Saturday.
The goalkeeper stepped up to take a penalty on 22 minutes and easily converted.
Victory keeps Onduparaka rubbing shoulders with the big boys in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL).
Onduparaka remain in the top five, fourth to be exact, on 19 points, one behind Police, after 11 matches.
Police lead with 20 points, followed by KCCA and Onduparaka on 19 apiece.
Kirinya-Jinja, who had Joel Madondo sent off in the second half for a second bookable offence, are eighth on 14 points.
In Entebbe, Masavu for the first time won a second successive match, edging Kefa Kisala’s Bul 1-0.
Ddumba Sadala’s 74th minute penalty was enough for Masavu to record their third victory of the season.
The newcomers, who came into this match high on confidence following their 2-1 victory over Express, move up to third-from-bottom on 10 points while Bul are below them on nine.
Elsewhere, Vipers rallied to rescue a point at home to Maroons.
Solomon Walusimbi gave Maroons a 30th minute lead but Vipers levelled 10 minutes later through Yayo Lutimba.
Vipers fall to fifth on 17 points, while climb up to seventh on 15.
