Onduparaka vs Jinja SSS, Betway Green Light Stadium

The Saints Vs Bul, Matugga, 4:30pm

Onduparaka and Jinja-Kirinya SSS meet this Friday in the Azam Uganda Premier League with contrasting fortunes.

Having ended the first round on a high in third place, Onduparaka have failed to win in their last two matches – only drawing the previous one.

But they are still better off, way much better, than the relegation-threatened Jinja.

Onduparaka come into this match at their Betway Green Light Stadium fourth with 26 points from 17 matches.

Jinja SSS sit second from bottom with one win in 17 matches, 10 draws and six losses.

That the match is at Green Light, where Onduparaka remain unbeaten, hardly helps matters for Jinja.

Yet the Caterpillars from Aria come into this with a jaded defence, which has conceded five goals in the last two league matches – against URA and Proline.

“Yes, we have got just one point from the last two matches but we can still achieve our initial target of staying in the top division if we get seven points more,” said Livingston Mbabazi, Onduparaka assistant coach.

Mbabazi, however, insists there is no defensive crisis.

“Our team is still compact and we will handle each game as it comes,” he said, “Jinja SSS poses the same threat as URA but we want three points at home.”

Onduparaka head coach Leo Adraa will again count on 10-goal hero Muhammad Shaban as they search for their first second round win.

Elsewhere, Frank Anyau’s Bul will hope to build on the 3-0 dismissal of Express on Tuesday when they visit The Saints at Matugga.
