Friday AUPL Results

URA 1 – 1 Express

Lweza 2 – 0 Saints

Police 2 – 0 Vipers

Two spot kicks were enough for Police to beat Vipers 2-0 and increase pressure on coach Jorge da Costa.

Hakim Senkumba netted both goals from the spot to help Police ease their own relegation worries.

Events at Namboole were so surprising they kept from the headlines the match that carried all the pomp going into this round of the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) matches on Friday.

That much anticipated game in Lugazi instead produced a one-all draw, Saidi Kyeyune scoring for URA and Simon Sserunkuma, Express.

Back at Namboole, Vipers were twice punished from 12 yards, the first penalty awarded by referee Ali Sabila after goalkeeper Ismail Watenga unnecessarily elbowed Reuben Kimera. Senkumba stepped up converted.

The ghost haunted again in the second half, Vipers defender Shafik Bakaki handling in the box to concede the second penalty.

The disjointed performance by the two-time league champions leaves Vipers sixth with 36 points from 23 games.

For Police, while the result makes headlines, it only helped the cops move four points clear of the teams in the relegation zone.

Elsewhere, Lweza won for the first time in 11 games with Ronald Muganga and Juma Balinya scoring in a 2-0 victory over Saints.
