Police 1-0 Kirinya-Jinja

Police beat Kirinya-Jinja 1-0 to return to the top of the league on Wednesday but the Cops coach Abdallah Mubiru still had areas of concern.

Like has been in previous home games, Police got into several good scoring positions at Namboole but were unable to add to Ben Ocen’s goal on 29 minutes.

“It is indeed a worry that we are not converting the chances we are getting,” said Mubiru.

He added, rather optimistically: “But we continue to improve and will take it one game at a time.”

Juma Balinya hit the post while Gift Ali,  Ocen, Hood Kaweesa and Basan Shafi all got into decent positions for Police but there was little to show for it.

For Mubiru’s counterpart at Kirinya, Charles Ayieko, it was not all doom and gloom for his side despite the defeat.

“The positive we can pick from the game is that the players gave their all,” he said.

“We can no longer be underestimated and every team has to work very hard to pick points off us”

Police now top the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) table on 13 points while Kirinya remain fourth with 11, more than they collected the entire first round last season.
