- Greater Masaka 0-2 Police
Ruben Kimera and Norman Ojik scored for Police as they got past Greater Masaka at Masaka Recreation Ground to reach the round of 32 of the Uganda Cup.
Kimera converted a penalty in the first half after Ojik’s cross into the area was handled before the former Sadolin Paints man got his goal on the day.
The score line could have been humiliating for the hosts had Albert Mugisa, Juma Balinya and substitute Ben Ocen not wasted a couple of goal scoring opportunities.
“We managed the ball so well but were lethargic in front of goal,” said Abdallah Mubiru, the Police Coach. “But am happy with the result because in knock out competitions, it’s more important than the score line,” he added.
Last year, the Cops were eliminated at the quarter finals by eventual winners KCCA.
Douglas Kisembo, now Cops goalie saved Rahmat Senfuka’s penalty in extra time as the Kasasiro won 2-1 on the day.
