Police run riot against Bright Stars

Police moved two places out of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) relegation zone after thumping Soltilo Bright Stars 5-0 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday.

This was the Cops’ only third victory in 13 attempts, leaving them in 12th position with as many points on a 16-team log.

Juma Balinya, Muwadda Mawejje, Eric Ssenjobe, Herman Wasswa and Emmanuel Mugume were all on target as coach Abdallah Mubiru’s boys went ran riot.

This helped Police bring their goal difference into positive. They had scored only 11 against 16 coming into this fixture.

Balinya put the Cops ahead on 12 minutes before Mawejje sent the game into half time with Police leading 2-0.

Ssenjobe, Wasswa and Mugume completed the rout after the break to further complicate Bright Stars matters

Bright Stars are now third from bottom on seven points, only three ahead of basement side, Tooro United.

Elsewhere, Gaddafi traveled to Mbarara City and beat the hosts 1-0 to go above SC Villa in ninth position with 17 points.

Amos Kirya scored the game’s only goal on 18 minutes.

Mbarara’s seventh defeat in 13 matches has them two places below Gaddafi on 14 points.
