Proline 4-1 Sporting United

Proline booked their ticket back to the top tier division after earning a 4-1 win over Sporting United in the FUFA Big League final play off.

Baker Mbowa’s side took the lead through Gift Ali whose free kick hit the back of the net after man of the match Edirisa ‘Torres’ Lubega was fouled after 23 minutes.

The Lira side levelled matters seven minutes to the break with Dickens Okwi converting from 12 yards after Denis Makoba fouled in the area.

It was all square at half time but Proline responded better after recess firing in three goals in quick succession.

First, skipper Simon Mbaziira converted a penalty after a foul on Lubega in the area ten minutes into the second period.

A minute later, Lubega got rewarded for his enterprising show on the day with a well taken goal that saw him loop the ball over advancing goalie Steven Odong before he put the icing on the cake on 59 minute mark.

It was game over for Engwedo Egwal side although they give their all forcing Proline skipper Mbaziira to be sent off as the side finished with ten men.

The former premiership side promotion ends a two year spell in the FUFA Big League and they join Kirinya Jinja SS and Onduparaka as the three promoted sides.

Kirinya wins championship

In the game that decided who qualifies as champions, Kirinya outsmarted much fancied Onduparaka with a 2-0 win. Musa Magumba and Joel Madondo scored for the Jinja based side.

The two games attracted a rare crowd at the venue.
