Proline 2-1 KCCA
Proline became only the second Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) team on Friday to beat KCCA at StarTimes Stadium since the facility was refurbished a couple of years ago.
Coach Mujib Kasule’s men stung the defending champions 2-1, thanks to Daniel Isiagi’s double, to further throw life into the title race.
Paul Mucureezi scored KCCA’s consolation from the penalty spot late in the game but the hosts held on for all three points.
Victory for Proline, their fourth in 12 matches, moves them three places up to 10th on 14 points while KCCA remain third on 22 points despite defeat.
KCCA own StarTimes Stadium but they share it with Proline for their respective home matches.
Proline were hosts in this particular one. The only other team to win here are Vipers, who beat KCCA 2-1 last season.
While KCCA can still boast of an unbeaten home record this season, it will also be recorded that this match was played, lost and won at StarTimes Stadium.
Isiagi struck his first on 17 minutes before completing his brace – also his fourth goal overall – just after the hour.
Manager Mike Mutebi’s KCCA three the kitchen sink at Proline and earned a penalty on 90 minutes.
Mucureezi stepped forward and converted it but it was too late for the champions to avoid their second defeat of the season.
KCCA’s next match is away to Mbarara City Tuesday while Proline entertain Bright Stars at StarTimes Stadium.
