Vipers SC 4-0 Onduparaka

Maroons 1-0 Gaddafi

Blacks Power 0-1 SC Villa

StarTimes Uganda Premier League reigning champions Vipers SC returned to winning ways in emphatic style, thrashing Onduparaka 4-0 on Wednesday.

Bright Anukani, Karim Watambala, Ibrahim Orit and skipper Milton Karisa were all on target at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende as the Venoms recovered from defeat to Gaddafi at the weekend.

Vipers seventh win in 11 matches saw the five-time champions go top of the table for the first time this season.

They are on the same 23 points as KCCA, dislodging the Lugogo outfit, who face Express on Friday, on goal difference.

Onduparaka came into this one after hiring a new coach in Steven Bogere on Tuesday but that did not help much.

The Caterpillars remain bottom on two points from 11 matches.

Vipers went ahead through a penalty after a hand ball in the visitors box, Anukani dispatching it on 23 minutes.

Watambala made it 2-0 moments later  before substitute Orit, on for ineffective Marvin Youngman in midfield, had Vipers cruising 3-0 on 75 minutes.

Striker Cromwell Rwothomio then set up Karisa for the skipper to wrap up a dominant win a minute from full time.

Villa, Maroons grind on

In Lira, striker Seif Batte was on target on 82 minutes as SC Villa claimed all three points in the 1-0 victory over relegation threatened Blacks Power.

This victory was sweeter for the Jogoos especially because they were coming off defeat to Maroons by the same scoreline.

Villa’s seventh win in 12 matches has them in fifth on 20 points.

At Luzira, Fred Amaku’s 80th minute goal proved the difference as hosts Maroons beat Gaddafi 1-0.

Maroons are 11th on 13 points while Gaddafi are eighth on 15.
