Uganda’s Caf Champions League representatives, Express FC, flew out to Sudan on Tuesday night for their return leg against Al Merrikh hoping to set the early tone.

The Ugandan champions carry a 2-1 lead from the first leg and scoring an early goal at the weekend will go a long way in increasing their chances to progress to the next round.

“We have planned to attack in the first moments and get that vital away goal,” said James Odoch, Express assistant coach.

“Then we shall revert to keeping the lead to progress. We believe it is mission possible because we have all players available.

Odoch hinted at maintaining the core of the first XI team that largely kept the visitors in check at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende last Friday.

“The three strikers – Eric Kambale, Godfrey Lwesibawa and Martin Kizza – executed the game plan well and troubled Merrikh defence,” added Odoch.

The winner of this tie will advance to the second round to face either Akonangui FC (Equatorial Guinea) or Zanaco FC (Zambia) for a place in the lucrative groups stages of the 2021/22 Caf Champions League.
