Saturday collated results
Mbarara City 1 – 1 Proline
Kirinya-Jinja 1 – 1 Masavu
URA 1 – 1 Express
Three of the five Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) matches were shared spoils as the fight to stay up continued on Saturday.
Only UPDF pulled off an almighty victory – a 1-0 grind – over SC Villa in Bombo to defiantly move out of relegation days after they were docked points for fielding a suspended player.
The rest in the drop fight either dropped three massive points or earned one crucial one.
Express were losing to URA at Namboole until the third minute of added time when centre referee Brian Nsubuga pointed to the spot after the visitors fouled in the box.
Ayub Kisalita stepped forward and converted the penalty for the Red Eagles to pick a valuable point and move to 27 despite hanging third from bottom.
Peter Lwasa had given Sam Ssimbwa’s URA the lead on 47 minutes.
Mbarara also needed a 55th penalty against Proline to earn a point as the two relegation threatened teams went toe to toe, while Masavu also gritted out a point at Kirinya-Jinja.
Daniel Isiagi had given Proline a 35th minute lead but Emmanuel Obina levelled from the spot on a day three penalties were awarded across the league.
The other spot kick was awarded to Masavu for Arthur Ssemazi to level for the visitors on 74 minutes after Anthony Mayanja had put Kirinya-Jinja ahead on 50 minutes .
Both Proline and Masavu remain in the bottom two with the former on 27 points and the latter on 25.
Proline have three games to go while Masavu have two to save their rather wretched season.
