KCCA Vs SC Villa – StarTimes stadium, Lugogo 4pm Live on Azam TV
Rivals KCCA and SC Villa renew hostilities at StarTimes stadium, Lugogo on Thursday in arguably the biggest game on the local scene.
The two sides are separated by four points with the Jogoos on top of the standings but KCCA have a game in hand.
Victory for the hosts will see them cut the gap to one point and open the title race wide open while a win for the Jogoos takes them seven points ahead of the reigning champions.
“We are playing a big and an on form side but I have prepared my boys to overcome any kind of situation,” said Mike Mutebi, KCCA manager ahead of the game. “We are aware that a win takes us close to them so we can’t afford to error on the day,” he added.
Paul Mukatabala, whose former assistant while at SC Villa also highlights the importance of the game to his Villa Park side.
“With all the other teams in pursuit especially Vipers SC getting a positive result yesterday, and closing the points gap on us,” he stated. “This fixture takes on even more importance for us to come away with at least something in our bag,” he added.
“A tight affair, but we go to Lugogo believing in ourselves, especially in the manner in which we got the victory over KCCA FC in the first round game.
The hosts will miss a couple of players including striker Derrick Nsibambi and midfielders Julius Poloto and Muzamiru Mutyaba while Patrick Kaddu will have to pass a late fitness test.
But they have the gem, Jackson Nunda back in contention and likely to start his first game since that tie against FUS Rabat.
Martin Kizza is suspended for the visitors but they have no injury worries in camp.
SC Villa won the reverse fixture 2-1 but must break the Lugogo jinx if they are to complete a rare double over their rivals.
The Jogoos have never won at Lugogo and have only picked one point in the previous four meetings at the venue.
