NEC 0-3 Gaddafi
Amos Kirya scored a brace to inspire Gaddafi to a 3-0 victory away to StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) newcomers, NEC, at the MTN Omondi Stadium, on Wednesday.
Ronald Bithum’s strike, which was fumbled in by NEC goalkeeper Samson Kirya in between the other Kirya’s goals, made the scoreline all for good reading as the visitors recorded their second win in six league matches.
The victory lists Gaddafi three places up to 10th on six points, while NEC’s only second defeat keeps them fourth on 12 points, just four behind leaders BUL.
The visitors went ahead on eight minutes when NEC failed to clear a cut-back inside the area, an unmarked and lively Kirya easily directing it home with his right foot.
Gaddafi made it 2-0 just after the half hour when Bithum’s low cross from the right was fumbled into the back of the net by NEC goalkeeper Kirya.
The other victorious Kirya then completed his brace on 60 minutes with some peach of a goal.
The eventual Pilsner Man of the Match received the ball from a short corner, beat his man inside the area and curled in a perfectly weighted ball to give his goalkeeper-namesake no chance. A comprehensive victory for the visitors in the end.
