Ambrose Kirya scored two goals and created another as SC Villa thrashed Tooro United 4-1 at Bombo Barracks on Wednesday.
Faisal Muwawu and substitute Nicholas Kabonge scored the other goals as the Jogoos moved into third place on 20 points, 10 behind leaders Vipers and four behind second-placed Bul. Villa have a game in hand on the duo.
Defeat for Tooro, their seventh in 12 matches, leaves them in 11th on 13 points.
Villa came for this one with intense force, Kirya opening the scores as early as the third minute before the midfielder doubled the advantage on 20 for his fifth goal of the season.
Muwawu made it 3-0 12 minutes into the second half as the game run away from Tooro.
But the visitors pulled one back on 65 minutes in an attempted comeback, but substitute Kabonge ended any hopes for Tooro when he grabbed the fourth two minutes from time.
In Western Uganda, there was nothing to separate hosts Mbarara City from Bright Stars as they played out a goalless stalemate.
