SC Villa 3-0 Proline
SC Villa returned to winning ways in forceful fashion, dispatching hitherto unbeaten Proline 3-0 at Namboole in one of the eight Azam Uganda Premier League (UPL) games played on Tuesday.
Alex Kitata, Vitalis Tabu and Denis Kamanzi scored for the 16-time record league champions.
Victory ensured Deo Sserwadda’s men moved second in the log and stayed within a point of leaders KCCA, who remain top on nine 12 points after their 1-0 victory over the Saints on the same day.
SC Villa’s shyness in front of goal coming into this fixture could not be overstated. The Jogoos had scored only three goals in four games, including missing a penalty in their opener, but boasted of – still do – a flawless defence.
They could only improve their stats against a disjointed Proline here, who had drawn all their four opening league games.
As if quickly putting the disappointing goalless draw at Lweza behind them, Villa went ahead as early as the 13th minute through Kitata before Vitalis Tabu ensured they took a 2-0 half time advantage on 33 minutes.
Kamanzi later made certain of an emphatic victory with Villa’s third as the Blues registered their third win in five matches.
This was coach Mujib Kasule Proline’s first defeat of the season but the league returnees also remain winless in four attempts. The loss drops them into the danger zone with four points.
