SC Villa 3-1 Arua Hill

SC Villa won their first StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) match in the last three when they dispatched struggling Arua Hill 3-1 at Wankulukuku on Thursday.

Goals from Ronald Ssekiganda, Umar Lutalo and Peter Onzima were enough to give the Jogoos their first win since the 3-0 victory over NEC on September 29.

Frank Kalanda scored Arua Hill’s consolation but it was hardly a consolation as the West Nile side recorded their seventh straight defeat of the season. They are bottom on a single point.

There was a minute’s silence before the match observed for the departed second vice president of Fufa, Darius Mugoye, who sadly passed on a day earlier.

To events on the pitch, Villa, who came into this match after a one-all draw with Vipers and 2-1 defeat to BUL, move three places up to eighth on as many points.

The Jogoos went ahead on 47 minutes when Arua Hill failed to clear their lines from a corner.

Ssekiganda, well positioned on the edge of the area, then dispatched the loitering ball into the top left corner of goalkeeper Richard Anyama’s goal for 1-0.

The second goal for Villa was an easy tap in by Lutalo off a free kick from the left on 69 minutes.

Onzima put it in no doubt with Villa’s third on 90 minutes, which was both a beauty and an indictment on Arua Hill’s defending.

The Villa number seven widened the pitch on the right, inviting a pass from the middle. He received it with his left foot, then charged at two Arua Hill players.

If they thought they had cornered him, they were wrong as Onzima played the ball right through, or rather between them.

He then ran around them and met his own pass to drill it home from just a few yards. Kalanda’s goal for Arua in the third minute of added time mattered less.
