SC Villa 2-0 Express
Sixteen-time national champions, SC Villa, continued their promising start to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) by beating rivals Express 2-0 for their second win of the season.
Ivan Sserubiri and Charles Bbaale scored the goals at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Friday as the Jogoos went second on the log with seven points from three matches.
On their part, Express, who stay on four points from three matches, are fifth.
Both sides cancelled each other out in the first half.
For Villa, they needed their goalkeeper Martin Elungat to be at his A game to keep out Ivan Mayanja and Allan Kayiwa among other saves.
But it is Villa who broke the deadlock, Sserubiri beating Express goalkeeper Denis Otim from a direct free kick on 55 minutes.
Before the Red Eagles could even take in the shock, Ivan Bogere released Bbaale, who had come on for Joseph Kafumbe.
Bbaale was in the mood, beating Otim in the Red Eagles goal to score in an empty net on 57 minutes. The result never changed.
