SC Villa 1-0 Onduparaka
Striker George Senkaaba scored the only goal of the match as SC Villa edged Onduparaka 1-0 in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) in Masaka on Tuesday.
Senkaaba reacted fastest to pounce home Godfrey Lwesibawa’s set up header past goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato on 67 minutes at the well attended game.
The result keeps Wasswa Bbosa’s Villa firmly in the title run in third place with 22 points, one behind leaders Police.
Onduparaka remain fourth on 19 points after 12 matches.
Lwesibawa could have given the Jogoos the lead on 10 minutes but his volley on the turn narrowly missed the target.
Onduparaka midfielder Gadafi Gadhino also tested Villa goalkeeper Samson Kirya from distance with a long range shot but the shot-stopper was unmoved.
The home team, Villa, remained dominant and soon got their reward on 67 minutes when Senkaaba stole the day.
Villa’s next game at home to arch rivals Express on Friday.
