Shaban hits hat-trick as Ondu rout Police

Friday result

Police FC 1-4 Onduparaka FC

Onduparaka striker Mohammad Shaban grabbed a hat trick as his side thrashed Police 4-1 at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Friday.

Emmanuel Oketch got the fourth in stoppage time while Juma Balinya scored Police’s consolation midway through the first half of the day’s only StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) match.

Victory allayed any relegation fears for Onduparaka as they moved further away from the drop zone. They now now sit ninth in a 16-team log with 27 points.

Police on the other hand continue the relegation battle, sitting just one place off the red zone with 24 points.

Shaban put the visitors ahead on 22 minutes before Police levelled matters just after the hour when Balinya converted a penalty following a foul on Eric Ssenjobe.

But Onduparaka were not letting up, regaining their lead through another Shaban goal before the striker completed his hat-trick eight minutes from full time.

Oketch was not to miss out on the party, though; the Onduparaka player grabbing the visitors’ fourth late on to complete the routing.
