KCCA 3-1 Vipers

Muhammad Shaban cannot simply stop scoring.

The striker was again the centre of attention as he scored a brace in KCCA’s 3-1 victory over fellow title challengers Vipers at StarTimes Stadium on Tuesday.

Second half replacement for Shaban, Derrick Nsibambi, also profited from Vipers goalkeeper James Alitho’s carelessness to put the game beyond Vipers in injury time.

Yayo Lutimba had scored Vipers consolation from a penalty spot in the first half.

Victory keeps second-placed KCCA within a point of leaders Police, who beat Express 1-0 at Wankulukuku thanks to Hood Kaweesa’s seventh goal of the season.

Police now have 23 points after 12 matches, one more than KCCA and Vipers.

Vipers second defeat in the last seven games drops under-fire Miguel da Costa’s men to sixth on 17 points.

Shaban got his first goal when he aided Paul Mucureezi’s goal-bound ball in past Alitho off a Mustafa Kizza free kick on eight minutes.

KCCA defender Timothy Awany conceded a penalty two minutes later when he hugged Tadeo Luwanga to the ground for Lutimba to level from the spot.

But Shaban headed home another Kizza free kick on 20 minutes – his sixth goal in three matches – before his second half replacement, Nsibambi, punished Alitho’s profligacy in stoppage time.
