KCCA 2-0 Police
Muhammad Shaban put behind his woes to score on his KCCA debut as the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) defending champions beat table leaders Police 2-0 on Wednesday.
Man of the Match Allan Kateregga capped his day with a glorious second for KCCA late on at the StarTimes Stadium..
Shaban had missed the league’s first eight matches following inconsistencies in his move from Onduparaka.
The said move was still in jeopardy until this week when Fufa gave the player a go ahead to choose the club he wants to play for.
Shaban started the game in the mood, hurrying Police backline with his clever runs.
He soon made his presence felt proper, the striker reading Sadam Juma’s pass to beat Steven Mugisha and round goalkeeper Davies Mutebi to put KCCA ahead on 14 minutes.
Shaban could have made it 2-0 before half time but his bicycle kick rattled the crossbar before Mutebi gathered the striker’s rebound header.
Police had Hood Kaweesa, Albert Mugisa and Ben Ocen all come close but KCCA defence stood tall.
Kateregga, who had earlier rattled the crossbar twice in the second half, made sure of all three points when he danced past three Police defenders to curl home beyond Mutebi for 2-0 on 85 minutes.
Victory moved KCCA two places up to third on 16 points, one behind Police and Bright Stars, who beat Onduparaka 2-1 on the same day.
