Former winners SC Villa were the biggest casualties of the round of 64 in the Uganda Cup as they lost to non-league side, Kiboga Young to exit competition.The Jogoos lost 5-4 on post-match penalties following a barren stalemate in Kiboga with Coach Shafik Bisaso blaming the bad pitch for the loss.
“The pitch was bad and it affected our performance,” he told upl.co.ug. “It’s very disappointing to be out this early,” he added.
Proline were another side to be eliminated at the hands of fellow AUPL side The Saints, who were missing the services of head coach, Moses Basena who is with the national team in Gabon for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Elsewhere, KCCA triumphed 6-1 at home to Koboko Rising Stars, Express eliminated Kirinya Jinja SS at Wankulukuku with a 2-1 win while Onduparaka thrashed Football for Good 6-2 away from home.
In other results, Police beat Maroons 2-0 to give Abdallah Mubiru a winning start at the Cops , Sadolin Paints beat KCCA Corporates 2-1 at Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo while holders Vipers narrowly survived an early exit after edging Premio 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 stalemate.
Only three fixtures in this round involving AUPL sides remain with Soana scheduled to face Lira United on Friday January 27, URA hosts Lweza at Lugazi on January 29 and JMC Hippos will host Nyamityobora on Friday February 3.
