Vipers SC 0-0 Simba
KCCA will be crowned Azam Uganda Premier League (UPL) champions if they beat Express, one of their remaining two matches, on May 24.
This comes after closest challengers, Vipers, were held to a goalless draw by relegation favourites, Simba, at Buikwe on Friday.
The result leaves George Nsimbe’s Vipers second on the log but four points behind Mike Mutebi’s KCCA, who top on 55.
This simply means that Vipers cannot defend their title even if they won their remaining two matches for as long as KCCA register victory in at least one of their own outstanding games.
After Express, KCCA will wrap up their season against Sadolin Paints. Vipers next face URA and conclude against the Saints.
Should KCCA seal the title, it will be Mutebi’s first as a coach in top football management.
The point for Simba kept the army side in the league only mathematically.
Should Lweza, who are just a place above the Bombo side but five points better, win any of their remaining two matches, Simba – who have 26 points – will go down.
