Simba 0-0 Lweza

10-man Lweza earned a point in a pulsating encounter against relegation candidates Simba at the Bombo Barracks Grounds.

Center back Swaibu Mudde received matching orders from referee Ronald Kirangwa for a second bookable offence in the 69th minute. Mudde had received a yellow card after 22 minutes in the first half.

In a game of end to end action, both sides failed to convert from the numerous chances created.

The visitors proved a better side in the first half and almost got the lead in the 34th minute when Hassan Kikoyo’s cross found Fred Kalanzi inside the area but his feeble shot was well collected by Simba’s custodian Joseph Ssebuliba.

After recess, the game became physical with the referee dishing out six yellow cards including sending off Lweza’s Mudde for time wasting.

Simba became dominant in the last 20 minutes as Lweza decided to sit back and defend for a point.

Veteran striker Godfrey Wakaza who replaced Alex Witaba in the second half almost snatched a winner for the army side when he pounced on a low cross from Brian Ochwo off a counter attack but Lweza had goalkeeper Lukwago Charles to thank as he tipped the ball away for a corner.

The draw moves Lweza one place up from 12th on 27 points while Simba still languish in the relegation zone on 16 points in 15th position.
