Busoga United 1-3 Bul

Joseph Ssemujju put up a masterclass as Bul thrashed local rivals Busoga United 3-1 in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) on Tuesday.

The forward netted a hat-trick at the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru to record the side’s first victory in two matches this season.

This was Busoga United’s second consecutive defeat following their 3-0 opening day loss to UPDF.

Busoga, who, again, managed to present only 14 players, went behind when Ssemujju converted from the spot after Hakim Magombe handled in the area.

He added two more, twice beating Busoga defence and goalkeeper Ali Kimera.

Bul then had Abdul Kimera to thank after the goalkeeper saved an Anthony Mayanja penalty in the 76th minute.

Busoga’s Jeromy Kirya did power in a long-range stunner late in the game but it was a little too late.

Victory moves Bul to four points from two matches.

Both sides missed their head coaches on the touchline with their assistants taking charge.

Busoga United’s Abbey Kikomeko Bogere shouted instructions from the periphery after failing to present a COVID-19 PCR certificate for the second game running.

Bul’s Arthur Kyesimire is away on national duty with the Uganda Cubs.
