Nelson Ssenkatuka opened his account in Bright Stars colours as he scored his and new club’s first goal of the season to salvage a point at Soana on Friday evening.
Soana had taken the lead through Osman Wejjuli early in the second half as the Kavumba side looked to put behind their opening 1-0 defeat to SC Villa.
Wejjuli scored Soana’s first goal of the campaign on 56 minutes before Ssenkatuka, an off-season import from Proline, levelled four minutes later.
The 1-1 stalemate means Bright Stars, who had their head coach Fred Kajoba start a four-match touchline ban for using “abusive language” towards a referee in the previous match, remain unbeaten.
They, however, also remain without a win after two matches, leaving them fifth with two points, two behind new table leaders Vipers SC, who edged Bul 1-0 at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende on the same day.
Soana did climb out of the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) relegation zone with a point following this draw in Kavumba.
