UPDF coach Brian Ssenyondo is a delighted man after leading his side to a laboured but sweet 1-0 victory over his former employers Mbarara City on Saturday.
A late Musa Mudde penalty is what it took for the hosts to grab all three points in this StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) clash played at Bombo Barracks before teams broke off for the international break.
“It feels very good I can’t discribe it,” said the youthful coach, “I want to finish in the first five positions this season and to try and finish at the final of Uganda Cup.”
Ssenyondo, who also guided Synergy to the Uganda Cup semis four years ago, and the UPDF are beginning to click after a mixed start to the season.
They now go into the international break fifth on the 16-team log on eight points, with Mbarara four places below on six.
“I actually have a young team dominated by players from the regional league. I want to build a good team here. We can build from here from the international break,” he said.
