Geoffrey Sserunkuma is on the team to Gabon

Primeiro de Agosto 2-1 KCCA (Agg: 2-2, KCCA progress on away goals rule)

Uganda’s flag bearers in the CAF Champions League KCCA maintained their dream of playing in the group stages thanks to Geoffrey Sserunkuma’s away goal despite a 2-1 loss.

The veteran centre forward, scorer of the winner in Kampala when KCCA beat Angola’s Primeiro de Agosto put the Ugandan side in the lead after 20 minutes at Estadio de Novembro.

Although the hosts rallied through Bua (30) and Geraldo (37) strikes, the Kasasiro held on to lose with only a margin of a single goal.

Mike Mutebi made changes to the side that started in Kampala with Tom Masiko starting ahead of Paul Mucureezi.

However, the change didn’t last as the KCCA number 14 replaced Masiko after an hour with the latter feared to have suffered a knock.

KCCA will now face South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns who are also the reigning champions of Africa.

The ‘Brazilians’ will host the first leg on the weekend of March 10-12 before KCCA play at home on the following weekend.

The winner will qualify for the lucrative group stages while the loser will drop to the CAF Confederation Cup.

KCCA Probable XI: Benjamin Ochan (GK), Denis Okot ©, Habib Kavuma, Timothy Awany, Joseph Ochaya, Ivan Ntege, Isaac Kirabira, Muzamiru Mutyaba, Tom Masiko (Paul Mucureezi), Geoffrey Sserunkuma and Derrick Nsibambi (Brian Majwega)
