Vipers marksman Daniel Sserunkuma believes they are now in good stead to go all the way to the title.

The striker scored his 11th goal of the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) campaign, making him a joint top scorer with Bright Stars’ Nelson Senkatuka, as Vipers downed SC Villa 1-0 on Tuesday.

That victory, also Villa’s first home defeat of the season, moved Vipers to within three points of the leaders with six and seven matches to go.

Villa top standings on 49 points, Vipers in second on 46 and KCCA a mark lower, with the Kasasiro Boys and Venoms having played a game fewer.

Sserunkuma, a January acquisition from Express, says there is a great feeling that Vipers’ third title could be on the way.

“I’m very proud to see myself teammates this happy,” said Sserunkuma.

“This is what the win means to us. We are thinking about each game.

“Our target is still winning the title. Yes,  I want to score, and I want to help the team win the league. We are confident and we fight on.”

Villa and KCCA both still have encounters against an Express side desperate for survival.

KCCA also have to visit to Vipers at a St Mary’s Stadium, where only URA and Paidha Black Angels have managed to win.
