Vipers Striker Daniel Sserunkuma finally received his golden boot and celebrated it with a goal on Friday.
The forward scored the equaliser in the 1-1 draw with URA at Namboole as Vipers lost ground on leaders KCCA.
Sserunkuma’s goal, his eighth of the season, cancelled out Shafik Kagimu’ s earlier strike for URA.
“I’m very happy. I dedicate this to my
@VipersSC family. Thank you so much,” said Sserunkuma, who also thanked the UPL secretariat for finally coming through, after the match.
Sserunkuma’s boot was not among the categories considered at the 2018 Fufa Airtel Awards, a loophole that exposed the organisers.
But after the matter came to light, the UPL CEO Bernard Bainamani was quick to address the situation and on Friday the striker was handed his boot.
Sserunkuma top scored with 17 goals last season, 11 of them coming in Vipers colours after he left Express half way the campaign.
His goal at Namboole on Friday was his eighth of this campaign, two behind league’s leading scorer Bashir Mutanda of SC Villa.
