Following a two-week international break, the Azam Uganda Premier League (UPL) resumes with all 16 teams in action at various grounds on Tuesday.
The highlight of match day three, however, centres at Lugogo, where formerly, banned Sam Ssimbwa faces ex-employees KCCA.
Vipers’ trip to Lugazi to face URA and giants SC Villa and Express welcoming JMC Hippos and Onduparaka respectively should also make for interesting viewing.
KCCA Vs Soana – Lugogo
All eyes will be on Sam Ssimbwa and Mike Mutebi, who face off after nearly nine months of separation.
The two worked together in the first half of the 2015/16 season but Ssimbwa’s contract was terminated for alleged match fixing that attracted a ban of eight months from FUFA.
In his first game at Soana, the side came from a goal down to win 3-1 in the second half against The Saints but faces a KCCA side that has won two in as many games.
Geoffrey Sserunkuma, scorer of two goals in two matches will be the man to watch for KCCA while Kamada ‘Ndiefi’ Ssebagala will dictate play for the visitors, who are just two points behind leaders and champions.
SC Villa Vs JMC Hippos – Namboole
At Namboole, 16-time league champions play their first home game targeting maximum points against visitors JMC Hippos.
The Jogoos come into the game on the back of a 2-0 win over Sadolin Paints and will look to new revelation Abdulmalick Tabu for inspiration.
Yasin Mugabi is expected to make his debut after missing the two previous games through injury while right back Joseph Nsubuga is doubtful.
Musa Walangalira will be tasked to stop the hosts’ attackers led by Umar Kasumba.
Express Vs Onduparaka – Wankulukuku
Livingstone Mbabazi and Moses Oloya make their debuts in the dugout for Onduparaka at Wankulukuku against hosts Express.
The Caterpillars are seeking a first topflight victory after a draw and a loss against Soana and Bright Stars. But in the Red Eagles, they face a tough and hungry opponent.
Herman Wasswa and Mike Mutyaba are expected to incessantly knock at the visitors backline, which is manned by Rashid Toha.
The two have had a hand in all three goals the side has scored with Wasswa scoring twice and bagging an assist while Mutyaba assisted the two goals the ex-KCCA striker has scored so far.
URA FC Vs Vipers SC, Mehta Stadium-Lugazi
Mehta Grounds, Lugazi will witness the clash of the titans as URA hosts Vipers in arguably the biggest game of the day.
The hosts are yet to pick maximum points this season but are buoyed by the news of the availability of their foreign contingent who missed the previous two games due to lack of a work permit.
URA enjoys a good record against Vipers and won the corresponding tie 3-2 last season. Erisa Ssekisambu is available for Abdallah Mubiru’s charges after missing the two games while away on trials at Lebanon.
Police FC Vs Proline FC, Kavumba R Ground
At Kavumba Recreation Ground, hosts Police and visitors Proline seek first wins of the season after being unsuccessful in the two games.
The Cops drew their first game goalless against SC Villa at the venue before losing 4-0 to Vipers a couple of weeks ago.
For Proline who have drawn their previous two games, the game presents a chance for the maiden season victory against a wounded lion.
New recruits Sakka Mpiima and Emmanuel Magembe are expected to be thrown into the fray by stand in Coach Mujib Kasule.
Kirinya Jinja S S Vs Sadolin Paints FC, Bugembe Stadium
The second of the many Jinja derbies as newcomers Kirinya Jinja SS take on Sadolin Paints at Bugembe stadium.
The visitors lost their previous game 2-0 to SC Villa and will aim at making amends against a side that has drawn all their two games in the new division.
BUL FC Vs The Saints FC, Kakindu Stadium
At Kakindu, The Saints visit Bul seeking first season victory after drawing and losing once in two games.
Moses Basena’s side lost a first half lead at Soana in their last outing and will be keen to avoid a repeat of the same against Frank ‘Video’ Anyau’s side that has drawn their two games so far.
Bright Stars FC Vs Lweza FC, CS Mwelerwe-Matugga
Lweza, the only side yet to pick a point this season visit Bright Stars at Champions Stadium, Mwelerwe seeking to end that.
The Oranje started the campaign with two big fixtures against Express and KCCA and despite an impressive show, they ended up on a losing note.
Bright Stars, who won 2-0 against Onduparaka in their last game, want to build on that.
