Vipers 0-1 KCCA
KCCA defended the Stanbic Uganda Cup with a 1-0 win over league champions Vipers to equal Express record in the competition.
Julius Poloto scored the winner two minutes to the half time break at the Emokori Grounds, Bukedea on Saturday.
In a closely contested fixture watched by a sizeable crowd, KCCA came into the game missing a number of key players but it didn’t matter.
The started and should have gone ahead inside five minutes but Poloto and Patrick Kaddu made hurried decisions to send their efforts wide.
Vipers later settled with Moses Waiswa dictating play in the middle of the pack but surprisingly fell down to Poloto header off Allan Okello assist after some good work by Kaddu down the right.
Jorge Da Costa made rushed changes six minutes after the break with Brian Nkuubi and Steven Mukwala taking over from Daniel Sserunkuma and Duncan Seninde respectively and later, Waiswa made way for Pius Wanji.
The league champions were the better side for the second half but survived a late attack after Paul Mucureezi, a replacement for Jackson Nunda failed to tap home with only Ismail Watenga to beat.
The final whistle was greeted with cheers from the travelling Yellow fans as Timothy Awany hoisted the historic trophy.
